Seeking out places for internet in Kansas city

Yes, I'm still looking for a job and I don't have internet at home. Finding internet is somewhat a challenge in Kansas City. Here are my favorite spots to get free internet.

1. Starbucks on Mainstreet. Sometimes a crazy place in the day. But they are open till midnight and that is great! You have to watch out for the foreign UMKC students that are loud and only one person buys a coffee and they stay and talk for hours taking up a whole area. Well, just plan on listening to your headphones.
   
2. Crown Center. Yes, Crown Center is a good place to get free internet. On the weekend it is free parking, 3 hour parking on the weekdays ( with validation ). Truthfully Crown Center is a ghost town and you can also get free internet 24 hours. You can walk over to the Weston and pretend like your on a business trip. Sit in the comfy chairs and drink coffee. Thats what I do...
3. Crossroads Coffee House. You know the old Coffee Girls place? Yeah, its open again. The place is still awkward. But the coffee is good and they have big tables and fast internet. The owner is a neat lady. If your feeling down she will most-likely cheer you up. ( thats were I am at right now )
4. Your Friends house/ Boyfriends house. ( So true, am I right or what! )

Places that are not good for getting free internet.

1. The Roasterie. Who wants to look for a job around a bunch of bratty people. And it is always packed with business meetings, babys crying, dumb UMKC students, So on and so forth. Also, They have a zillion people working behind the counter that dont know what they are doing ( excluding John ). I have tried to get a job here. ( when they opened years ago and when I was laid off last Oct ) I guess I don't look hip or I'm too fat to work at the Roasterie. We may never know, haha.
2. The Library. I don't know why but I don't like this place.
3. Westport Coffeehouse. Because I used to work there and the advertising agency across the street.
   
4. The New Crave ( Java Something ). They have the worst coffee, its bad. The people that work are cool but the coffee is like drinking coffee from a old boot, yuck! Creepy old men go to this coffeehouse. If your into creepy old men you might like this place.

Old Job + New Job

Unemployment.....

Wikipedia says, Unemployment occurs when a person is available and willing to work but currently without work. So true in my case.
I was laid off Oct 13th 2009. I have been ruthlessly filling out aps and sending our my resume like a mad woman. I have only had 3 interviews and all 3 were disappointing. It has been a full time job keeping my nerves calm, I'm starting to freak out over this whole thing. Money is tight. Nerves thin.
It is hard not to be angry at my last employer for putting me in this position. I almost rather to have been doing poorly at my job than to be doing my best and doing a great job.

Kansas City Is such a FUN FUN City....

Found out that someone stole my catalytic converter on my car. Seriously, I don't have a nice car to begain with.

My wedding ( someday )

Someday I'm going to get a ring and end up planning a wedding.
I'm 25 years old and so many people that I know that are my age and younger are getting married and having a ( big ) wedding. I have been to so many. Been in some.

I have kept a folder of ideas and pictures I like for years. My parents are not paying for my wedding and they will not be planning anything about it. I will not have any cheesy DJ or dumb sand unity ceremony. No big poofy dress or the wedding topper with the bride dragging the groom. Common! That is such a crude joke and if people want there wedding to be a joke then whats up with that?

I am not going to have a boring frumpy ceremony.

I have for the last two months been busting out my resume morning, noon and night. I have had many responses and most of them are scammers wanting me to get a credit report. In this economy, people have a heart! Don't waste our time. We are trying to get a real job. We are not sitting at home in our easy chair trying to make a quick buck off of naive people just wanting to work.

May it be, Twitter, Facebook, Myspace. If you are not using at least one, you must be a dumb lazy good for nothing.
One, You can use yourself for free advertisement. Set up a Twitter account. It only takes 15 min.
Let people know who you are and what your about. People like to be known and love to be remembered. This is a easy way to create a relationship with clients/customers and future clients/customers. No one wants to feel like a cow being herded into what they want. Think about it.
Twitter, Facebook, Myspace It is FREE So do it.

I have been tanning lately. The place is new and quite small. It was a hard to find and awful website. But a super nice place. Very relaxing. After going for a week I thought I might talk to the owner that is always at the front desk. I was like hey, Do you have a twitter? She was like oh I have heard of that and totally dismissed what I was saying. I thought to myself, man she just missed out. I would have set one up for them. Oh well, missed out.

I'm stuck in a coffee rut

About a month ago I had a great Idea that OH YEAH, I THINK I WILL WORK SOME SHIFTS AT THE COFFEEHOUSE. Nothing wrong with that. Right?
I have only worked the last 3 Sundays. Each shift I have worked with a different person. Each person has been very unfriendly to me. whats up with that?

The Quest for a Jump Hour!

For quite some time I have been infatuated with watches.
I have been looking for a strange RETRO jump hour.
I have had no problem finding them on ebay.
Even found one with tony the tiger on it.
Alas, I have not committed to buying one.

Last night I thought It would be a good idea to go get a hot dog at the Licks ( google says it was called little new york?what?) on 39th st.

To my surprise It was closed.

I googled Kansas City and hot dog and Burger King poped up! WHAT!

I ended up eating at Chipotle. Now I don't have to eat for a week. They have huge burritos. Speaking about Chipotle, They announced that they have a new branding check it out.

Coffee Town Kansas City..

YEP I said it...
Kansas City is known for barbecue & football. Yeah, everyone knows that.
BUT COFFEE?

One of my fav places to hang out is Broadway cafe. Some of the best damn coffee in the midwest. I promise! Its a place to have good latte and people watch. A smokers paradise. Way hip baristas. I always wanted to work there, I'm not cool enuf.

Hi Hat Is another good one to go to. Not the best coffee. The building to freaking awesome! A old gas station. Its sorta in the richie rich area. I would not be shocked to see a small dog in a purse or a bunch of big SUVs. har har...

The Roasterie. Of Course!
At fist I didnt like that place but after a few years it grew on me. Yeah, you got your snobbie snobs that go there sit with the mac books and get the non-fat, sugar free, soy, 20 ounce latte. Its great to sit outside and relax. I have even broght my guitar and played once. I used to live a block away. Brookside is such a neat area in Kansas City, its a must if you ever come here. Way rad garage sales, hint hint!

Westport Coffeehouse is my place. Ignore the website (awful!)
Its a good place to hang out at night. weekends open till midnight.
Oh yeah, I used to work here. Great place to work during the day, be crazy at night.
Right next to the GOOD bars in kansas city. You must try just plan coffee when you go. The serve Parisi Coffee an awsome local Kansas City roaster.
